Harborview Aquarium
Under construction near Destiny USA, whose original 2001 pitch promised a 90,000 sq ft aquarium that was never built. This one's budget has grown from $85 million to over $100 million, faced a $2 million funding gap as of late October 2025 weeks ahead of its planned July 2026 opening, and part of the overrun is covered by Onondaga Lake remediation (Honeywell settlement) funds.

The 2001 expansion pitch promised a 90,000 sq ft aquarium, a 500,000 sq ft sports complex and 20,000 hotel rooms (per the original Pyramid Companies pitch deck); what was delivered was a 2.4 million sq ft mall, roughly half the promised footprint, with none of the rest. In 2025 the owner defaulted on the $300 million mortgage tied to the 2014 expansion; the balance has since grown to $325.2 million with deferred interest, alongside multiple 2025 tenant departures.
